1.
Imported into iTunes from Garage Band 10/5/11. Wrote this in the bungalow.
2.
Recorded 5/6/14, exactly halfway through living in Tempe. Chorus lyrics are different, no solos, ending is slower.
3.
Recorded 1/27/14 as a reference track for Claude. HDD would never practice again after this, and we never played it. Checks out with finishing it over Christmas 2013. It was evidently once a rock song. Different verse 2 lyrics, different bridge lyrics, the Circle K was a Shell station!!
4.
Recorded 5/19/14, in Tempe. Solo electric demo. I like the vocal performance and the guitar pedal effects.
5.
Recorded 5/21/11. Part of an ongoing quest to demonstrate how easy it is to write a Strokes song. Julian advised me on the vocal tone.
6.
Recorded 7/31/13 as a reference track for Claude. It was originally written with entirely different lyrics and then reworked for "Year of Wistaria" nine months later. The Pavement worship was still in full effect back then.
7.
Recorded 11/06/10. An unremembered early snippet that I evidently mined for "320 Sycamore Ln" years later. Blink-182 worship in full effect. Kingsfoil allusions.
8.
Recorded 10/27/13. The project with Neil, Hungry Ghosts. Other songs for that project were "Basement of the Chapel, Early 1963" and "Patagonia".
9.
Recorded 2/13/15. The very recording that made Trochee Trochee possible after Tempe.
10.
Recorded 2/26/14. Didn't seem successful back then, but I recall working on it the same day I wrote "Mississippi Dads", "Abstract: Mitchell Park", and "Mama's Boy".
11.
Recorded 9/17/15. Naturally changed the lake name to Patagonia.
12.
Recorded 9/28/13 in Mississippi. Best cover I've ever recorded despite not knowing the lyrics.
13.
Recorded 12/1/14. Demo for "Stress, Unstress" recorded in Williamsburg.
14.
Recorded 1/3/15 in Williamsburg. Lead guitar reference track still three months in advance of starting sessions. Ending lyrics originally included an allusion to The Drinky Heartaches.
15.
Recorded 1/3/15. Bass!
16.
Recorded 4/8/14. Didn't have any sense of dynamics or sections yet, just a bunch of disconnected melodies.
17.
Recorded 5/7/14. Back when it was only a minute.
18.
Recorded 3/26/14. Utterly shocked this was written in Tempe!
